Homestead Exemption does NOTHING for Seniors living in Manufactured/Mobile communities where they do not own the property and can not claim a Homestead Exemption. All this process will do is INCREASE the taxes on these parks and drive up costs for our Seniors
I like the percentage option. The $50k we get is a drop in the bucket. When I first bought a house in 1999, it made a difference, now, not so much. Georgia has a flat property tax for those over 70 of $700. My 81 year old mom is paying nearly $4k in property taxes each year. The system should be between 50% and 80%, depending on your age. Only for homestead properties.

Senior citizens should be able to enjoy their homes without worrying if they have enough money to keep paying taxes.
I think once you buy something, it's yours and you should own it outright. Call me crazy!!!
